ASIATIC Red Hardneck Garlic
The most beautiful garlic you'll ever grow?
Te Mata Asiatic is also known as Korean Red garlic. This is perhaps the most beautiful garlic we offer. It has excellent spicy flavor, especially when roasted, imparting garlicky sweetness to cooked dishes, without overwhelming heat.
This hardy hardneck garlic is relatively easy to grow. It seems to especially like Northern NZ areas, producing bulbils where other hardnecks dont. A meaty 6-10 cloves per bulb in tightly wrapped crimson-red skins.
Stores well, around 8 months.
Asiatic produces scapes with 5-10 pea size bulbils, that when planted the next year will produce more 50mm+ bulbs, meaning a faster period to 'bulk up' your plantings (see 2nd photo below)
Plant May-June for best results - harvest early to mid Dec .
